Legal Masterclass on Special Guardianship Orders in Court

There is a need for special guardianship assessments to be robust, evidence based and analytical.

This training is both highly relevant and necessary to all social care professionals involved in children proceedings.

The training offers an overview of the legal framework, the impact of research, recent developments in relation to timescales, practice and the court’s expectations. It will also cover an update on recent case law including the essential guidance set out by the Court of Appeal’s in Re P-S (Children) [2018].

  •         Should SGO placements be tested
  • What makes a robust SGO assessment, with clear realistic recommendation to the court, and compliance with Re S
  • Are SGO realistic orders for all children in care
  • How to deal with the challenges and barriers of carrying out SGO assessments within the 26 week time limit in
